21 oktober: #REPOST from @aimhilive 💚🌿

——

A story from AimHi Earthling, Bella Soares:

“Last week, I went to the @TED @TEDCountdown climate conference, and I really wanted to share the idea of Solarpunk with everyone I met there. Ever since I’ve learned about this movement, I’ve felt hopeful and inspired because it’s helped me imagine what a fossil fuel free future could look like.”

“On the second day, our co-founder, Matthew, was chatting to a man called Bill, who was later introduced to me. I enthusiastically told Bill all about Solarpunk, and he listened intently to everything I said.”

“When I’d finished, he told me that he was an architect and he showed me a book with a collection of his designs, all of them built in cities scattered around the world. All of them were Solarpunk. It turns out this man was Bill McDonough (@williammcdonoughinnovation), a globally recognized leader in sustainable development and design. He is a pioneer of the concepts of Cradle to Cradle Design, the Circular Economy and the Circular Carbon Economy. He’d never heard of the Solarpunk movement before even though he’s clearly one of the people who helped inspire it all.”

“It’s thanks to people like Bill (and many others) advocating for new perspectives, that I felt even more optimistic about the future, because I realized Solarpunk isn’t just an artistic movement, it's here, it’s possible and it’s happening already.”
